Terry Brogan, a former football player past his prime and down on his luck, takes up an offer from his old friend Jake Wise to find Jessie Wyler, Jake's ex-girlfriend who has gone missing in Cozumel. Terry finds Jessie and they quickly fall in love. However, as Terry becomes more entwined with Jessie's life, he discovers that she is hiding something dangerous. The situation escalates when Jessie reveals that she was involved in a plot to defraud Jake of money, which leads to murder. As Terry grapples with his feelings for Jessie and the consequences of her actions, they find themselves on the run from both Jake's henchmen and the law.
