Veronika, a woman in her twenties, is diagnosed as schizophrenic by doctors. She believes she is God's favored child and embarks on a quest to find Jesus, leading her into relationships with men who exploit her trusting nature. Her vulnerability makes her an easy target for these men, resulting in a series of abusive relationships where sex is often insisted upon or coerced. One such man persuades Veronika to join his cult, further exacerbating her situation.
