In the near future, Sarah (Karen Gillan) undergoes a cloning procedure as she believes she is terminally ill and wants to ease her impending loss on loved ones. When she unexpectedly recovers from her illness, she decides that she no longer needs or wants her clone, Sarah's exact replica who has been living in isolation. She attempts to have the clone decommissioned but encounters resistance from both the cloning company, Replicate, Inc., and the clone itself. After several failed attempts, a court mandates a duel to the death between the two Sarahs, stating that the winner will be considered the authentic Sarah.
