In the near future, time travelers from various historical periods begin appearing in the ocean off Norway's coast. The Norwegian police create an integration program to handle these 'Fremvandrerne', foreign strangers from different times. Among them is Alfhildr, a Viking Age woman who teams up with Lars Haaland, a burned-out Oslo police officer as part of this program. While investigating the murder of a woman adorned with Stone Age tattoos, Lars and Alfhildr uncover unexpected discoveries that suggest these Fremvandrerne may pose more than just a historical curiosity.
