概要
In 1977, five remarkable students - Caroline Séguier, Matt Ribero, Abel Karnonski, Laure De Cigy, and Louis De Cigy - were admitted to France's prestigious ENA school. This marked the dawn of their political aspirations and the beginning of an intense rivalry among the "Voltaire promotion". Caroline, a staunch Mitterrand supporter, was driven by ambition; Matt, a Rocard enthusiast, broke free from his steelworker roots; Abel, already a lawyer with a family, sought to influence administration at its highest level. Laure and Louis, aristocrats with state service in their blood, aimed to restore social balance. Their years at ENA were filled with victories, disillusionments, competition, and personal ambition, preparing them for the brutal power struggle post-graduation. Hardened by field experiences, they navigated embassies and Corsica alike, learning to wield influence and make compromises. Mitterrand's victory in 1986 thrust these "énarques" into state politics, where their choices would shape not just their careers but France's future.
