In Paris, 1967, renowned filmmaker Jean-Luc Godard (Louis Garrel), already famous for 'A bout de souffle' and other films, begins to shift his focus from revolutionizing cinema to becoming a political revolutionary himself, as evidenced by his Maoist film 'La Chinoise'. He marries Anne Wiazemsky (Stacy Martin), a young actress and the granddaughter of writer François Mauriac. The May 1968 events in Paris put their marriage to the test, as Godard becomes increasingly involved in the revolution and less available to his wife.
