Seven students respond to an advertisement for an experiment aiming to eliminate the sensation of pain, led by the enigmatic scientist JB Divay at his secluded institute. Initially amused by JB's peculiar fascinations with hypnosis, clocks, and cacti, the group grows uneasy as their peers start vanishing one by one. Plucky student Jason confronts JB about her suspicious activities but discovers too late that JB has Kyle, Jason's boyfriend, strapped to a table beneath a swinging pendulum blade.
