Maggie Gyllenhaal, born November 16, 1977, is an American actress and filmmaker. She began her career in her father's films as a teenager, notably appearing in 'Donnie Darko' (2001) with her brother Jake Gyllenhaal. Maggie gained critical acclaim for her roles in 'Secretary' (2002) and 'Sherrybaby' (2006), earning Golden Globe nominations. She played Rachel Dawes in 'The Dark Knight' (2008) and received an Academy Award nomination for Best Supporting Actress for 'Crazy Heart' (2009). Maggie has also appeared in Broadway productions, TV series like 'The Honourable Woman', and produced/starred in HBO's 'The Deuce'. She married actor Peter Sarsgaard in 2009. Notably, she made her directorial debut with 'The Lost Daughter' in 2021.
