ストーリー
In the towering headquarters of a Japanese corporation in Los Angeles, a woman's body is discovered after a party. Detective Web Smith is called to investigate and initially believes it to be a sex game gone wrong. However, he discovers that the victim was a prostitute hired for the night, which suggests foul play. Detective John Connor, who has experience working with Japanese culture, joins the investigation. They find a security disc showing the murder but realize it's been doctored, indicating a cover-up.
概要
Rising Sun is a mystery thriller directed by Philip Kaufman and released in 1993. The film, based on Michael Crichton's novel of the same name, explores themes of cultural differences, corporate corruption, and power dynamics between Japan and America. Set against the backdrop of a Japanese corporation operating in Los Angeles, it follows detectives Web Smith and John Connor as they investigate the murder of a prostitute during one of the company's parties. The story delves into intricate details of Japanese culture, such as seppuku (ritual suicide), while also addressing themes of racism, greed, and moral decay.
