Arielle Dombasle (born April 27, 1958) is a French-American singer, actress, director and model. Her breakthrough roles were in Éric Rohmer's Pauline at the Beach (1983) and Alain Robbe-Grillet's The Blue Villa (1995). She is best known to American audiences for her appearances on Miami Vice and the 1984 miniseries Lace. She has released eight singles between 1978 and 2011 and seven albums.

A girl named O loves a rich, and much older man. She is subjected to a variety of humiliating experiences to prove her unconditional obedience to him in a Chinese brothel. A poor boy sees her and falls in love with her. To get the money needed to sleep with her, he takes part in rebellious acts.

O, a captivating yet vulnerable young woman, finds herself entangled in a torrid affair with Sir Stephen, an affluent and much older British man residing in colonial southern China. Placed under his tutelage to manage his casino, O's innocence is cruelly exploited as she's forced into servitude at a Chinese brothel, enduring degrading rituals to prove her unwavering loyalty. Unbeknownst to Sir Stephen, his callous actions spark an intense love triangle when Li Wei, a humble local boy, becomes smitten with O after catching glimpses of her plight. Desperate to afford her favors and rescue her from the brothel's clutches, Li Wei risks everything by joining the brewing coolie rebellion against European rule. Meanwhile, simmering resentment towards foreigners among the native population threatens to boil over into full-blown uprising, further complicating O's precarious situation and Li Wei's daring quest to win her heart.
