ストーリー
Paul, a struggling novelist suffering from writer's block and plagued by paranoid nightmares, rents a secluded cottage in the countryside to complete his new book, a 'pretentious sex romp'. He hires Linda, a secretary, to help him type the manuscript. On her arrival, they encounter some youths harassing her at the station, leading Paul to intervene. Later, Linda takes a walk and is raped by these same youths, but she eventually seeks revenge by shooting them both with a shotgun hidden in the house. Meanwhile, Paul continues to struggle with his writing and faces rejection from Linda's advances. She begins to insinuate herself into their household, displacing Mrs. Aston, the housekeeper. When Mrs. Aston returns at night, her throat is slit with a knife. As Paul and Linda work on completing the novel, he invites his former girlfriend Suzanne back, only for Linda to seduce her. Later, Suzanne is murdered in the shower after Paul's car crashes into a river due to tampered brakes. The cottage descends into chaos as violence erupts between its inhabitants.
概要
Exposé (1976) is a British horror-thriller film directed by James Kenelm Clarke, notable for its controversial content and being classified as a 'video nasty' during the video nasties moral panic in the UK. The story revolves around Paul, a novelist grappling with writer's block who hires Linda, a secretary, to help him complete his manuscript. Set primarily in a secluded country cottage, the film explores themes of psychological horror, sexual tension, and revenge as events spiral out of control. The movie gained notoriety due to its graphic content, including scenes of rape, murder, and lesbian sex, which led to its ban under the Video Recordings Act 1984. Exposé is a product of its time, reflecting the societal fears and controversies surrounding sexuality and violence in media during the late 1970s.
