Manfred and Meyra, a middle-aged German couple originally from Zagreb, vacation on the Croatian island of Hvar, staying at Ms. Marija's house. Tensions arise when Meyra and Ms. Marija's son develop an erotic attraction towards each other, causing friction between Manfred and the young man. The true reason behind Meyra's visit to Hvar remains unknown.
Haloa - praznik kurvi (1988), directed by Lordan Zafranovic, is a Croatian drama set on the island of Hvar during a vacation season ('halo' in Croatian). The film explores themes of infidelity and hidden secrets through the complex relationships between Manfred, Meyra, Ms. Marija's son, and Ms. Marija herself. The movie's title translates to 'Haloa - Festival of the Witch,' suggesting dark undertones beneath the surface of the seemingly idyllic island getaway.
