Pennyworth follows the story of Alfred Pennyworth, a former SAS soldier who sets up a security company in London in the 1960s. The series explores his early life before he becomes Batman's butler and mentor. In Season 1, Alfred is hired by Thomas Wayne to protect him during his visit to London from the powerful crime lord, Martha Kane. Meanwhile, Alfred navigates his complicated relationships with his girlfriend Esme, his mother Mary, and his best friend Dave Boy. The season culminates in a battle between Wayne's forces and Kane's men at the Alamo nightclub.
