Martha Watson, born in 1976, was an American track and field athlete specializing in the 100 meter hurdles. Initially lacking confidence and drive despite her natural talent, she had a disastrous Olympic trial but was eventually coached by Terry Tingloff at Cal Poly after being noticed by fellow athlete Torry Skinner. During their training together, Chris and Torry formed a romantic relationship, with Chris later switching to the pentathlon event due to her versatile athletic abilities.
