Jessica Marie Alba, born on April 28, 1981, in Pomona, California, is a prominent American actress and highly successful entrepreneur. Growing up in an Air Force family, she moved frequently during her childhood—living in Mississippi and Texas—before her family eventually settled back in California when she was nine. Despite facing significant health challenges as a child, including frequent bouts of pneumonia and partially collapsed lungs, Alba remained determined to pursue her passion for acting, which she had discovered at the age of five.
Her professional journey began at 13 with a role in the film Camp Nowhere (1994) and a recurring part in the Nickelodeon series The Secret World of Alex Mack.
